Obsession with Weight Loss

Isn't it funny that a country as fat as the United States is obsessed with people who are dying to lose weight, trying to find that next big fad without having to work hard for it.

Well I'm for one sick of it.

Those of you who know or have followed my own journey into weight loss know that I have been successful. Even more successful than I could have ever imagined. You could say that I have become obsessed with losing weight, and you'd be right. But for people who ask me what's me secret, there is no secret. I eat more healthy and eat less, and cardio. The later of which I have done a lot. Good ole' hard work. During the summer I ran about 20+ miles a week, 4 miles a day.

To put my weight loss in perspective:

June 2008: 190 pounds

October 2008: 147 pounds.

Yeah, I've lost a lot of weight in a very short amount of time. And yes I know that's pretty unhealthy, but with results like that, who can blame me for continuing. And I do plan on continuing. Even though as my BMI stands right now, I'm healthy and at a normal weight for my height, which was my goal all along. But I think I can go a little more. Once I'm at 140 though, I'll stop. At which point I'll focus more on strength training and bulking up.

My weight in terms of how much I weigh, I don't care about. I could weigh 160 and as long as that was muscle, that's all that matters. Which is what I'm trying to do. It's just all that fat that's getting in the way. In other words, it's not how much I weigh, it's how I perceive myself every time I look in the mirror.

In that respect, I think I'm going to go anorexic very soon. Just kidding.

But for those who are concerned, and there's a lot of you, I'm going to be fine. My mom, after noticing it has really been against it, and wants me to gain some of it back. She thinks I'm too skinny now. Who would of thought? Me, too skinny? I love it!

So I came back from the road trip with the band this morning and man what a time did we have. It definitely had its ups and downs, and even though it was short, it was still really fun and totally worth it.

If you hadn't heard from me or anyone else on the trip, we went to Santa Monica. It was a really cool place and a great place to take pictures (which i took a lot of).

We also visited Mutasim's apartment complex, the place where's he's going to move in once he goes down to L.A. next month. It's a lot nicer than the neighborhood that surrounds it, but it is really small.

When we got to the pier I was pretty excited to see all the people skating and running and stuff like that. Too bad I hate beaches lol. This beach was pretty nice though.

I love this picture because I am standing on the EXACT SAME bench that Gackt was on years early when he visited Santa Monica. I didn't even realize it until I recognized the spot from one of Gackt's documentaries. I can't believe I was where Gackt was (Screams like a little girl). lol

Road Trip

I'm going on a last minute Road Trip with my band and we don't know where we are going. But we are going anyway and I love it. We have no destination but the road will take us somewhere.

I'll be back in a few days with pictures and updates.

Nothing like friends, an acoustic guitar and the open road.

Living the Dream

A friend of mine and his band opened for Coldplay a few weeks back at HP pavilion. That's right, Coldplay, as in British band sensation that has the number one album in the world right now. Also he and his band is on the verge of getting a record deal, but right now are looking for a manager.

All I have to say is amazing.

I don't deny that I'm jealous, my friend is totally living my dream. But what's great is that it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Not only that but he has a great voice too.

After hearing some of their songs, I can honestly say that I am a fan of their music and that it really is good. I would totally listen to them even if I wasn't friends with the lead singer.

But yeah like I said, I'm jealous. My plan of course was to drop out of college, form a band, get signed and make it big.

Yeah, right.

But of course that's why we dream. And that's why we live through other people.

Oh well, I hope my friend and his band the best of luck because they're so young and just getting started.

Just remember, I knew them when they were local.

So my grandmother tells me yesterday, "your aunt is in town and wants to see you, are you working tomorrow?" I reply with yes, and thought that was the end of it. My aunt, who my grandmother was talking about, is my Dad's sister. That's right, my real Dad's sister. So I was shocked when this came up all of a sudden. I haven't seen my aunt in a really long time...over 10 years to be exact.

I wake up this morning to my grandmother's voice telling me to get up and get dress because they were on their way to my house to see me. Well color me nervous.

They get here, and by they I mean her an her family, and it's a pretty nice reunion. She was really excited to see me and I thought that was really nice. The biggest thing about her visiting though, is that she would know how my Dad is doing and how he's been since I've last spoken to him (which would be at least 15 years.)

So it turns out my Dad still lives in the Philippines and still only has one child. Which means I have another half-brother out there. Which of course I've known for a long time, but I also thought that his name was Dave. You know, my name. Also, other people on my mom's side of the family thought that too, including my mom.

From this visit with my aunt however, I find out that my Dad lied to me and that my brother isn't named Dave, his name is Kyle and he's 11 years old.

Well well well, what can I say. I've lived more than a DECADE of my life thinking I have a brother out there with my name because I thought that my Dad missed me and loved me that much that he would name his next son after the one he missed most. Well if that was a lie, how am I suppose to know if he really did miss me.

I don't remember what life was like when he was in my life, so there's no way I can miss him, I don't even know what to miss.

Anyways, at least I now know the truth, assuming this is also true.

Another thing I found out is that my grandmother on my Dad's side really wanted to see me before she passed away. Unfortunately that didn't happen because she died more than 4 years ago.

And I'm finding this out now why? I know it's not my fault, but holy crap that's a lot to think about.

My aunt also gave me a list of phone numbers of everyone on my Dad's side. And she told me to call them, especially the ones that live in the Philippines. Of course I'm like...umm sure. But I don't even know these people. I don't even know how to make calls to the Philippines lol.

But yeah, I've got a lot to think about.
